About Us

The Hospital

Arrowhead Regional Medical Center (ARMC) is a state of the art 456-bed facility (90 behavioral health and 366 hospital inpatient beds). It also hosts a 24-hour emergency room, a level-II trauma center, three family health centers, and has the only burn center serving San Bernardino, Riverside, Inyo and Mono counties. The Emergency Department (ED) consists of sixteen observation rooms, seventeen treatment rooms, three law enforcement-holding rooms, and eight trauma rooms. ARMC is a teaching hospital and has interns in most medical and administrative sides of healthcare. ARMC offers residency programs for the training of physicians in Family Medicine, Emergency Medicine, Surgery, Neurosurgery, Women’s Health, Internal Medicine, and Psychiatry. The outpatient services offered at ARMC include a wide range of emergency, primary, preventive, chronic, follow-up and specialty care services.

Internal Medicine Program

The Internal Medicine Residency program started on June, 2005 with four internal medicine interns. Currently, there will be spots for eight additional AOA interns and five ACGME interns every year. Arrowhead Regional Medical Center is an ideal location for training in internal medicine. The academic environment, the diverse patient population, the well-trained internal medicine attending physicians, and the exposure to a great variety of illnesses will help ensure the training of a well- rounded, highly skilled internist. The academic portion of the program entails morning case conferences, bi-weekly journal clubs, board review sessions, lectures in a variety of internal medicine topics, and pre-clinic talks. As ARMC is a county hospital, the internal medicine house staff is exposed to a very diverse patient population and learn to embrace the important cultural and religious aspects of providing medical care.

Fellowship

Starting June 2014, we will have a new Pulmonary/Critical Care fellowship. There will be spots for two additional fellows every year. Our fellows will rotate through a variety of clinical services and will have protected time to conduct a research project. Fellows will help with the consultation service and will hone their skills in advanced chest procedures. Fellows will also provide support to the IM team on call.
